Becci Nethery Female Artist Of The Year 2016 on Clays Country Radio

Becci Nethery Bio

Becci’s debut single "I Wrote This One For You" and her 2nd single "Livin' In A Love Song" (from the debut EP "Livin’ In A Love Song") both were #1 hits on the Tasmania Country Chart and  #14 and #9 respectively on the Australian Country Tracks Top 40 Chart throughout 2015.

Becci won the TSA Open Contemporary Songwriting Section award at Tamworth in 2015 with "I Wrote This One For You. She was also a finalist in the Southern Stars Rising Female Awards (at Mildura) and is a Top 30 finalist in two sections of the ASA (Australian Songwriters Association Competition). Becci has also been awarded the Brumby Award for "Best Female Vocalist 2016" for this song.

Becci was born in Chillagoe hospital on 6th March 1997, in the tiny remote Cape York town of 250 people. She attended Chillagoe State School for seven years then  boarding school at Saint Monica’s College in Cairns, graduating in 2014. At age 18 she already has a broad experience of life from the outback to the city.

Her grandad Fred Burdell, a genuine bush balladeer, began teaching her guitar when she was just 8 years old and she has continued to study music all though her school years, specialising in the later years. She has performed at country gatherings and music festivals all over Queensland and in Tamworth ever since those early lessons.

She is a very proud graduate of the CMAA - 2012 Junior Academy of Country Music, having won a scholarship from the Walkamin Country Music Club for performances at the Far North Queensland Country Music Festival. Attendance at this elite academy, which accepts 20 of the finest young singers, songwriters & musicians from Australia and New Zealand for the week long annual course in Tamworth, was a huge stimulus for her.

Becci currently lives in Sydney and is well advanced in her Bachelor of Music Degree (Performance) at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA). She still takes every opportunity to head home to her beloved FNQ whenever possible.
